Gondar

The city of Gondar is located  in the north-western of Ethiopia. The city stands at an elevation of 2300 meters on a basaltic ridge from which streams flanking the town flow to Lake Tana, 2134 km south. Once you find yourself in Gondar, you can visit  the home of Emperor Fasiledes. The city is well-known for the walled Fasil Ghebbi fortress and palace compound which is registered as world heritage site by UNESCO. You really enjoy the special peace of mind in the dignified Fasil Ghebbi. Many people call Gondar the Camelot of Africa, but Gondar is a real city made out of royalty and blood. Gondar’s history covers hundreds of years as early as the 12th century.

One can use inter city buses-Selam bus, Sky bus, Limalimo bus, Ethio bus, Golden bus, Abay bus and other public transport systems  which operate daily to and from Addis Ababa. Ethiopian Airlines has daily flight to Gondar.
